You're a med student! -HUGS- I'm so happy to find a friend with similar paths/goals! Are you still in basic college or already in medical school?
My friends got me into Japanese anime about five years ago, so I guess I'm still considered rather new. I love the customs and culture (though I'm not very aware of the history). I Definitely want to visit some time, and plan on going in a couple years as a study abroad class. (Sympathies on the teasing. Sometimes I feel like I'm too old for this stuff and then I hear about fourty-year-olds going to cons and I don't feel so bad.)
-Hee- I have a couple friends around me that write fanfiction (but one's since drifted off because of work and the other's more into comics than anime). But nothing quite at the level of my LJ friends.
This, of course, in no way helps my relationship with my mom, who thinks I spend too much time on the net as it is - despite the fact that I still manage everything I'm supposed to. -has issues-
